Joining the Hills BMX Club

Hills BMX Club is a welcoming, family-friendly club where riders of all ages and skill levels can enjoy BMX racing in a fun, safe, and supportive environment.

Whether you're brand new to BMX or looking to race competitively, we have a place for you.

🚲 Getting Started

The easiest way to begin is with a FREE 4-week trial membership through AusCycling.

This allows you (or your child) to:

  • Try BMX before committing
  • Ride at Club Nights (Wednesday)
  • Experience racing and training
  • See if the sport is the right fit

πŸ“ How to Join

Step 1: Start Your Free Trial or Membership

All memberships are completed online through AusCycling.

You can choose:

  • Race – Off Road (BMX, MTB, CX, Freestyle)
  • Race – All Discipline (includes Road & Track)

Step 2: Come to a Club Night

Bring your bike and gear and head down on a Wednesday night during school term.

Step 3: Nominate to Ride

  • Nominations open: 6:00pm – 6:40pm
  • This registers you into your race class for the night.

🏁 Club Night Information

When: Wednesday nights (school terms)

Schedule:

  • 6:00pm – 6:30pm β†’ Open Practice / Warm Up
  • 6:30pm – 6:40pm β†’ Sprocket (Beginner) Practice
  • 6:40pm – 7:00pm β†’ Mini Wheelers (Balance Bikes)
  • 7:00pm onwards β†’ Racing

Cost:

  • Mini Wheelers: $4
  • Sprockets & Age Class: $8

We cater for:

  • Mini Wheelers (balance bikes aged 2-7)
  • Sprockets (Aged 2-7)
  • Age Class racing (Aged 8+)

Racing is based on year of birth, not current age.

πŸ›‘οΈ Safety Requirements

Before entering the track, all riders must meet safety requirements:

Rider Gear (Mandatory)

  • Full-face helmet
  • Long pants
  • Long-sleeve shirt or jersey
  • Full-finger gloves
  • Enclosed shoes

Bike Requirements

  • Rear hand brake required
  • Bar ends fitted

Not allowed:

  • Front brakes
  • Kickstands
  • Chain guards / mudguards
  • Pegs, reflectors, bells

Hills BMX Club uses electronic timing (Sqorz) so riders can:

  • Track lap times
  • Monitor improvement
  • Build race experience

From club racing, riders can progress to:

  • WA State Series
  • State Championships
  • National Championships

Our club is 100% volunteer-run.

To race, we need roles filled each week, such as:

  • Staging
  • Track Flaggies
  • First Aiders
  • Canteen
